Facts
Following two separate and significant mass breach incidents, the New South Wales civil infrastructure and utilities constructor proposed an Enforceable Undertaking with nine safety initiatives, which the NHVR accepted in September 2023. The measures included compliance-assuring conditions and Chain of Responsibility performance-management provisions in subcontracts, targeted CoR training focused on loading procedures, a load management campaign and a calibration register. The company also proposed finishing the retro-fitting of scales to its remaining 6 to 10-wheeler trucks, a load mass verification system recording each loaded trip, and allowable mass limit labels on those trucks. The company has since delivered close to $140,000 worth of safety initiatives.
